Our Mission

At Grace Grown Academy, we strive to create an engaging school experience for our students that encompasses faith into learning. Our Microschool takes great pride in striving to provide students with a personalized education and nurturing environment, where they can flourish academically, socially, and spiritually.

Our Approach

We believe that every child is a unique individual with their own learning style, strengths, and challenges. Our Microschool model is based on a personalized approach, where we create customized learning paths for each student, tailored to their needs and interests. We also integrate biblical principles and Christian values into our curriculum, helping students develop a strong faith foundation that will guide them throughout their lives.

Our Philosophy

We find importance in giving children real life experiences, which is something they don't always receive in other school settings! We will have opportunities for students to experience gardening, cooking, fundraising for a good cause, problem solving projects, and much, much more! We believe that great learning goes beyond the desk and happens when students are engaged and having fun!

Elizabeth Kirby

I always knew I'd be a teacher! With a Masters of Arts in Teaching from JMU- Goooo Dukes- I taught 4th grade in Greene County before having our oldest, I then quickly realized my place was at home. From SAHM to homeschool mom, I can't imagine any other education for our kids and am overjoyed to be able to provide that to others! I am so excited to work with you all in this unique, close-knit educational experience. It takes a community to give kids the education they deserve, and I can't wait to build that community with you!

Hannah Shifflett

I was drawn to teaching after completing my first child psych class, but ultimately pursued a career in marking and e-commerce. After a career change, I felt the Lord calling me to homeschool. I would best describe it as a path covered in God's grace, innumerable provisions, and precious memories. It was in that first year that I realized children are best served by first getting to know them, how they learn, and then carefully curating a plan to help each individual flourish. I resolved in that first year of homeschooling to do that for my own children and am blessed with the opportunity to do the same for others. In my spare time, I love reading, family adventure days, cooking and baking, gardening, beekeeping, hiking, working in my greenhouse, and peaceful runs around our home. My family and I have lots to love and care for with 5 dogs, 1 bossy cat, 8 ducks, 6 geese, 5 goats, 3 guineas, and a pasture full of chickens.

Lindsay McDaniel

I am so excited to be joining the Grace Grown Academy team! I have my degree in Elementary Education from Bridgewater College. I taught in first and second grade for 11 years and have been homeschooling my daughters for the past 2 years. We have a small goat farm and love International Tractors!
